Member InformationCredit Unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that exist to serve the financial needs of members, not to make a profit. Unlike banks, credit unions do not issue stocks or pay dividends to outside stockholders. Instead, earnings are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest on deposits, and lower fees. Credit Unions are owned by their members. Each credit union member has equal ownership and one vote, regardless of how much money a member has on deposit. Credit unions are tax-exempt. The benefits of this tax-exempt status as a not-for-profit cooperative are returned to members in the form of higher rates on savings and lower fees. Unlike banks, credit union board members are elected by you, the membership, and receive no compensation for their service and commitment. Board members volunteer their time for the betterment of the credit union and are looking out for the best interest of their fellow member-owners. Credit unions exist to help people, not make a profit. Credit unions assist members to become better-educated consumers of financial services and are there for their members in good times, as well as bad. Every member counts!
